Climate & best time to travel

Due to the mild climate, Italy can be visited all year round. This applies especially to the center and the south of the country, where there is a pleasant Mediterranean climate. While in the north it can be quite cool in winter due to the Central European climate. During your stay, watch out for warnings about earthquakes or volcanic eruptions. Italy is located in a seismically active zone and eruptions or quakes occur from time to time. In the fall, there can be more severe storms from the Mediterranean Sea.

Entry & Health

Entry for EU citizens is possible without a visa. It is recommended to carry a valid passport or identity card at all times. When crossing the border, ID checks may be carried out for security reasons, even when entering from the Schengen area. Due to the worldwide pandemic declared by the WHO, there may be sudden changes in entry requirements. For up-to-date information please visit the website of the German Foreign Office.
